Defense



The OSU-UML seeks to bridge the gaps between Defense, Industry, and Academia in a large number of areas, bringing them together and enabling collaboration that highlights the best aspects of all three. OSU-UML will accomplish this task through robust partnerships that focus on bringing the rich intellectual capital of the University, with the State of Oklahoma, and it’s industry together to address some of the Department of Defense’s most challenging problems in a cost effective manner. With a number of partnerships and contracts already in place, we will strive to develop more with effective processes that allow our capabilities to rapidly address shortfalls and requirements. Currently the OSU-UML is actively working in the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Defense, Command Control Communications Computers Cyber Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), and Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV) Systems and Payloads areas.



Energy



The UML identifies and promotes promising energy technologies that, with adequate technical, commercial and financial resources, can be brought to fruition within 18 months. UML’s unique approach of involving prospective customers and best-in-class manufacturing partners early in the process ensures that the absolute best final product. The UML provides objective and critical oversight to ensure safety and product quality, and continues to pursue a broad range of Energy sector initiatives.



Homeland Security



The University Multispectral Laboratories (UML) is expanding its role as a trusted agent with the Department of Homeland Security. UML is crucial in the transition of new and enhanced operational capabilities from innovators to operators in the field. This is done by: 1.) accelerating the enhancement of technology transfer and commercialization by streamlining the innovation-to-deployment cycle; 2.) delivering greater access to a unique network of resources and testing and training facilities at a lower cost; and 3.) fusing government, academia, and industry mission-oriented products and services. UML is unique because it is a 501(c.)(3.) RDT&E organization that holds no intellectual property. The efforts of the UML staff are focused on securing the safety of the nation by assisting the Department of Homeland Security to remain agile and responsive to the needs of the first responders and our military warriors.
